Partnering with “ Let’s talk field” – Supporting Better Fieldwork Preparation

Dear Sfecologie members,
We are pleased to introduce “Parlons Terrain” (“Let’s talk field”), a working group supported by the French Society of Primatology (SFDP), dedicated to accompanying and supporting people who work or wish to work in the field, across all disciplines.
Our mission is to improve the preparation, well-being and safety of individuals in the field by addressing both practical and logistical aspects, as well as the often less-discussed human, cultural and emotional aspects of the field.
Specifically, we offer:
● Awareness and training workshops (biannually online or on demand) led by a panel of fieldwork experienced speakers, addressing:
o Practical, ethical, cultural and health aspects
o Security and intercultural relations issues
o Difficulties, traumas and taboos, which are often not anticipated
o Local and international perspectives
● A safe space for sharing and listening to anyone in need of support before, during or after their fieldwork experience
● Various other awareness-raising materials (articles, videos,…) freely available on our website and social media platforms
We are reaching out today to offer you our support: offering to integrate our workshops into the preparation of your students, researchers, volunteers or collaborators before they leave for the field. These interactive sessions provide concrete tools and advice to leave better prepared, reduce risks and optimise field experiences. Our workshops are adaptable to the expectations and specific needs of every organisation.
All our interventions and resources are available in English and in French.
