PROJET DESCRIPTION
The aim of this 2 year project is to promote an agroecological transition in the wine sector by limiting the use of synthetic phytosanitary products and copper to combat vine phytopathogenic agents while preserving environmental and human health (mainly winegrowers, residents of vineyards, consumers) following the concept of « One health ». This project will define new strategies to stimulate the resistance of the vine to climate change (heat wave, longer drought period) and phytopathogens. Thus, this project, co-built with the wine socio-professional sector, will ensure the sustainability of these emblematic agrosystems of Southeastern France. This project will focus on understanding the effects i) of biostimulation products on vine growth and resistance to phytopathogenes ii) of biocontrol against the main fungal diseases affecting this crop, depending on climatic conditions to establish a technical itinerary for wine growers. Biostimulant products should allow the vine to overcome stress linked to periods of increasingly intense droughts and phytopathogen attacks. Biocontrol products, applied preventively, should limit the quantities of copper applied and thus limit its impact on the soil-plant continuum. To determine as early as possible, the colonization of the vine by its pathogens (mainly oidium, downy mildew), the possibility of using a « Rover » type robot to perform an early detection of the development of the disease on the leaves by colorimetry will be tested. This route would also be tested on the “flavescence dorée” and its vector.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION & RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS/DUTIES
The candidate will be invested in the 2 year-project funded FEADER. She/he should have a thesis in agroecology or agrosciences since skills in soil sciences as well as in phytopathology are expected since he/she will be involved in defining the effects of biocontrol compounds (BCC) and of biostimulants on the soil-plant continuum. He/She should have also experience in field studies (sampling designs) and a strong knowledge in statistics. As stated above, the candidate will have to interact with different members of the consortium and thus he/she will have to be actively involved in the connexion between the different workpackages of this project as well as the actors of the socio-economic sector. More specifically he/she will have to contribute to supervision of Master students who will support the different tasks of the study.
