The CNRS « Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique », French National structure is opening a
tenure-track position (CPJ: Chaire de Professeur Junior) in the field of chemical analysis and reactivity
for the environment.
Our team in LASIRE laboratory from the University of Lille is one of the 4 targeted hosting structures.
The team Physical Chemistry of the Environment (PCE: 15 permanent researchers) contributes to a
better understanding of fundamental physico-chemical processes in natural environments. We are
interested in the origin and fate of contaminants in natural systems (water, sediments, aerosols),
development of new observation tools, water treatment processes, modeling, global change and
environmental transition. Our ambition is to develop multidisciplinary research on the impacts of
global changes and anthropogenic pressures on the environment through methodological and
analytical innovations. Equipment of LASIRE laboratory (www.lasir.cnrs.fr/plateformes/) and access to
the analytical platform of the chemistry department of the University of Lille (www.chevreul.univ-
lille.fr) are made available.
This research takes place in the larger context of the « Institut de la transition environmentale et
sociale » at the Univeristy of Lille, a cross-disciplinary program from natural to social sciences
investigating the environmental transition in strong partnership with non-academic partners.
This Chair seeks to enhance CNRS Chemistry’s ability to respond to key societal challenges, including
pollutant detection, treatment, and the implementation of innovative strategies for their elimination
from various environments in a context of climate change. The successful candidate is expected to
develop internationally recognized research activities in this field.
Applicants must have a strong experience (at least 5 y after PhD). They will propose an ambitious
research program in the topics listed above. The position comes with research funding of €200,000
and the successful candidate will be required to teach 45 hours per year at the University in the field
of analytical chemistry and/or aquatic chemistry. Application to European level research program is
foreseen during the period (e.g. ERC consolidators). After a 3 to 6 years tenure track period, they may
qualify for a tenured position of Senior researcher (Directeur de recherches) at CNRS.
