12 – 15 December 2021
Liverpool International Conference Centre, UK
This December we invite you to join over 1,200 ecologists from around the world at Ecology Across Borders 2021, a joint Annual Meeting BES-SFE²
After so much has been disrupted by the pandemic, we look forward to welcoming delegates in person at this joint annual meeting. Virtual conference passes will also be available so that ecologists outside the conference centre can join many of the sessions online.
Registration and abstract submission will open in the coming weeks.
We are following all the latest advice to guide our preparations and enable the ecological community to gather in-person with confidence. Answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the BES website.

In addition to our excellent set of
plenary speakers, we can now announce some additional programme highlights:
- The thematic sessions with invited speakers cover a wide range of timely and important questions, with a focus this year on the UN decade of restoration, the ecology of pathogens and agroecological futures.
- Workshops are interactive sessions for networking, skills development, and creative thinking. Get hands on modelling experience, join the conversations on nature-based solutions or get involved in many of the other sessions.
- Our career development and training programme provides a variety of training sessions, networking events and panel discussions. From tips on applying for grants and co-design of research, to getting the most out of mentoring, there’s plenty on developing new skills and taking forward your career.
