Association ELI-S is a non-profit organization (association loi 1901) that shares fundamental
educational values through Science and Sport. ELI-S means Education, Freedom, independence in both Science and Sport. The section ELI-Scientific initiated a project in Nicaragua on cetacean conservation in 2016: The cetacean Conservation Project of Nicaragua. Association ELI-S wish to set up a scientific and educational program in order to safeguard whales and dolphins. We believe that by getting to know better the environment, local communities
and the government will take care of their incredible biodiversity.

ELI-S is a young organization that wish to make science available for everyone. We
wish to offer a unique experience for the participants to get to know Nicaragua and
its marine fauna. The participant must see this opportunity as a chance to have a first experience with marine mammal research while living in small communities in an environment disconnected from the active world we know.

We offer a training program on the study of marine mammals in Nicaragua. The training lasts a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 2 months. The training takes place in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. You learn to collect effort and sighting data, focal following (behaviour), genetical samples, acoustical recordings and much more. Training is offered between July – September 2022 and January – April 2023.

Participation fee for one month is 1000 euros a month. That includes food, accomodation, training, boat surveys (+- 60 hours) and your annual membership to association ELI-S. What is not included ? International and national transportation and personal expenses.
